Use New Types of Polls to Gather Feedback
Product managers are always asking questions. You have to be curious about your customers' problems before you can deliver a valuable solution. Questions are how you can vet ideas, dig deeper, and uncover what is truly needed. In that spirit, we have improved our customer feedback polls to help you get truer answers to your questions.
You now have two new types of polls — a number scale and star rating — plus a field for open-ended responses so you can gather the insights you need.
Polls in Aha! Ideas Advanced help you get a quick pulse on what customers need. Currently, you can launch polls in your ideas portal, send a link via email, or publish polls directly in your application. Polls launched last year with the ability to add questions and multiple-choice answers.
Today we are expanding our polling options to give you more flexibility. You now have two new types of polls — a number scale and star rating — plus a field for open-ended responses so you can gather the insights you need. The number scale and star rating are set at one to five — with the option to customize the labels shown at each end of the scale. For example, you might choose to label from "Strongly disagree" to "Strongly agree" or "Not likely" to "Very likely."
If you would like to try polls along with the other customer research tools available in Aha! Ideas Advanced, start a trial or enable a trial in the account settings of an existing Aha! Roadmaps account.
Now let's look at three ways you can use the new poll options:
Understand the importance of an idea
Use polls to inform product decisions. For example, we want to gather feedback on an idea we are considering promoting to our roadmap. So we built a poll asking people to rate the urgency from "I do not need this feature" to "Please implement immediately." Now we can publish to our ideas portal and determine relative priority as we see responses roll in.
Gauge satisfaction of a new feature
Get quick feedback on new functionality. Here we are running an in-app poll — using a star rating — to ask customers how satisfied they are with a recent enhancement. We have also added an open-ended question to gather ideas for improvement.
Distill poll results into insights
Time to review the results — visit the Results tab of the poll in your Ideas account. Here we can see that most customers responded favorably and we can examine the text responses for more info. Pairing polls with open-ended answers is a simple way to bring together quantitative and qualitative data.
Use polls to inform future decisions and get quick feedback on new functionality.
Discovering what customers need is a continual process. Use polls to create more opportunities for learnings throughout the product development lifecycle. And look out for polls in our public ideas portal too — we are eager to hear from you.
