Integrate with Azure DevOps

Convert whiteboard items into records and send to Azure DevOps

Refine your delivery plans

Use Aha! Whiteboards and Azure DevOps together to streamline collaboration with engineering. View existing Azure DevOps work items on a whiteboard to align on what needs to get done and when. And quickly convert new items that do not belong on your roadmap into new Azure DevOps records right from your whiteboard — so you can transition seamlessly from planning to delivery.

Add Azure DevOps records to your whiteboard

Fine-tune implementation details. Copy the link to any Azure DevOps work item and paste it onto your whiteboard. It will appear as a record card that displays important details (such as the ID, work item type, title, and state). Move items around — alongside records from Aha! Roadmaps — as you collaborate on program increments, sprints, and more. This helps you set realistic plans so the team can move forward in unison.

Create new Azure DevOps records from a whiteboard

Convert text-based whiteboard objects (such as sticky notes and shapes) into Azure DevOps records. This is an efficient way to move technical debt items and bugs identified during planning sessions directly to the engineering team's backlog, no retyping necessary. You can do this individually or in bulk and quickly fill in relevant details about the work.

See the most current information

To view more details about the work, click on a card anytime to open the record back in Azure DevOps. Simply refresh your whiteboard as you make updates to see the latest. Having this information readily accessible helps make collaborative planning sessions more efficient.

This integration is available as part of the Aha! Whiteboards Advanced plan — either as a standalone solution or as an upgrade to any Aha! Roadmaps, Aha! Ideas, or Aha! Knowledge plan. Sign up for a 30-day trial to try the integration for free, or contact us to upgrade your existing Aha! account.

Any Aha! user with Edit access to a whiteboard can use this integration. To get started, check that Third-party application access via OAuth is enabled in your Azure DevOps account. (You can find this in the Policies section within your Organization settings.)

  • Copy the link to an ADO work item and paste it onto your whiteboard

  • Select one or more text-based objects, open the More options menu, and select Convert to Azure DevOps

  • Click the link on the record card to open the issue in Azure DevOps in a new tab at any time

Azure DevOps is an open platform that provides a set of tools for managing software development, including building, testing, and deploying solutions. Developers can work in the cloud using Azure DevOps Services or on-premises using Azure DevOps Server. Users can leverage source code management, CI/CD pipelines, project management, and testing. Azure DevOps also integrates well with other services, making it a versatile platform for small- and large-scale projects.
