My Name Is Courtney Attebery — This Is Why I Joined Aha!
I have always loved storytelling. I read a lot as a kid, immersing myself in fictional worlds set in different time periods and far away places. And I also wrote my own tales. I liked to create settings and outcomes for the characters that lived vividly in my imagination. Reading and writing was a great escape for me as an only child. But it also laid the foundation for my future career in marketing.
Marketing is storytelling at its core — creating a world and inviting others into it.
My first experience with marketing was an internship at So Worth Loving, an Atlanta-based lifestyle clothing brand I had always admired for its mission. During my internship, I managed the brand's social media accounts, organized local events, and created blog posts. I loved that instead of imaginary characters, I was now sharing powerful stories about real people with the world.
After graduating from Georgia State University, I wanted to continue using my writing skills. I was intrigued by the power of technology to connect people and knew I wanted to work at a fast-moving company. So I took an administrative job at a scheduling software company called Calendly, where I worked with the CEO and the marketing director. I quickly learned one of the biggest challenges in the tech industry is communicating the true value of the product to customers. And I knew I could help.
The leadership team asked me to move into a product marketing role. In this role, I managed many of the company's product launches. I am most proud of my work on the partnerships with Zoom and Intercom. The challenge of writing about the different integrations and tailoring each one to unique audiences was fun and exciting for me.
Calendly boosted my career into tech and product marketing and the small size of the team allowed me to take on lot of responsibility early on in my professional life. But I knew I wanted to keep growing and learning. I began looking for customer-centric roles in fast-growing, purpose-driven companies where I could grow my career and expand my skills. Aha! was the perfect fit.
During the interview process, I could tell right away that Aha! has clear goals and truly puts people first.
I quickly accepted the offer to join Aha! as a member of the Customer Success team. I was able to start using my storytelling skills in a new way. I led software demos and supported trial users and customers. I particularly enjoyed using my own experiences to help customers configure their Aha! environments in a way that worked best for them.
A year later, I started working on product management guides and success stories. Now I have officially joined our product marketing group, which is growing fast. I help manage our go-to-market launches and support the Aha! concierge team with the resources they need to best meet customer needs.
Purpose and pace are what drew me to Aha! — but what I love most is the people. Within the company, there is a great mix of interests and expertise so I am constantly learning something new about our product, customers, and life. Even though we are spread out all over the world, I feel a really close bond with my colleagues. And I love that I can work wherever in the U.S. is best for me.
Everyone at Aha! is kind, thoughtful, and motivated to help me succeed.
I am proud to be part of a company that allows me to be myself and fully contribute my talents. The stories I write today may not be the fictional tales of my childhood, but they are rooted in something just as exciting — a product that brings immense value and joy to thousands of users.
That is why I joined Aha! — and why you should too.
