Just Launched! — New Aha! + Slack Integration for Product Management
You are in a deep Slack conversation with the product team. Finalizing launch details. Making product trade-off decisions and agreeing on how an important new feature will work. The team is working well together. You want to keep the conversation going and make sure you capture the important new ideas that will impact your roadmap as they happen. Now you can.
We now have two integrations with Slack. But before we go into more detail about the new one, we will quickly review the integration that already exists. It is now named Slack [from Aha!]. It gives you the ability to push information from Aha! to Slack so that everyone stays informed. For example, it is a great way to track status changes as features are developed.
With our second integration — which is creatively named Slack [to Aha!] — you can send information from Slack to Aha!
You can do this by using a simple command to create ideas, features, to-dos, and more in Aha! without ever leaving the conversation in Slack. This makes it easy to capture key new ideas from Slack conversations and immediately enter them into Aha!
Here is how it works. Once you enable the new integration, you use the /aha slash command to create new ideas, to-dos, features, master features, releases, and initiatives as they come up in Slack conversations. Type /aha and then the type of record that you want to create (e.g. feature) followed by the name of the record (e.g. /aha feature Update sales tax calculation). You will then be able to select the product the feature belongs to and the release it should go in.
You can create the following records using the commands listed below:
/aha idea [new idea name]
/aha to-do [new to-do name]
/aha feature [new feature name]
/aha master feature [new master feature name]
/aha release [new release name]
/aha initiative [new initiative name]
Here are a few ways that we have already started to get the most out of this integration:
Capture ideas on the go All types of ideas come your way throughout the day — new feature suggestions, enhancements, and requests. You want to get those into Aha! fast so nothing gets missed. Quickly capture and never lose an idea again.
Capture and send ideas to Aha! from Slack using the /aha idea command.
Add features to your backlog When someone sends you a new use case in Slack that you had not thought of, send it to Aha! while it is top of mind. Add it directly to a parking lot or a release so you can add more information and prioritize it. Read more about adding features to the backlog in Aha!
Create features and assign to a release or parking lot.
Manage cross-functional launches with to-dos Managing a product launch requires effort across multiple teams. And keeping track of all the details can sometimes feel impossible. Stay on top of everything that needs to get done. Use Slack to assign to-dos to yourself and others.
Create a to-do for a new task using /aha to-do.
Easy configuration You will now see two Slack integrations available in your Aha! settings — Slack [from Aha!] and the new Slack [to Aha!]. Add the new integration to enable the /aha slash command in your account.
Here are the steps to get started:
In your Aha! account, go to Settings Account Integrations and add the Slack [to Aha!] integration
Click the “Add to Slack” button
Enable the integration
Once you enable it in your account, all of your Slack users will have the ability to use the integration. When they go to enter their first record, they will be required to click a link and sign into Aha! if they are not already. This allows Aha! to validate that they are active users and give them their appropriate permissions.
Go to Settings Account Integrations to set up the new Slack [to Aha!] integration.
With Aha! and Slack together, teams can get more done, keep track of all the details, and build more lovable products.
You need to be an Administrator with customization permissions to add this integration in Aha! Product Owners and Contributors can create all the record types mentioned above. Reviewers and Viewers can create to-dos.
