My Name Is Jeremy Geros — This Is Why I Joined Aha!
I founded and built a few software companies. It was a blast and I never seriously considered working for someone else — until I learned about Aha! I am thrilled to join the rapidly growing engineering team as a software engineer.
I grew up in Dunedin, a small city in the south of New Zealand, but I currently live in Mexico City. I guess you could say that I’ve traveled the world while building amazing technology.
When I left New Zealand four years ago to start my own company, I wanted to make something that I would be proud of — for both myself and my customers. I did a pretty good job and succeeded. But as much as I enjoyed working for myself and with a core team, there were just some things that I couldn’t learn while working on small projects.
When I learned that Aha! was rapidly growing and actively hiring Rails developers, I was excited to talk with the team. I was ready to take on a bold, new challenge and work with a proven team that had scaled a number of companies — while continuing to work with cutting edge technologies.
I was also motivated to be part of the engineering team behind a runaway market success with hundreds of leading technology and web customers as well as thousands of users.
It is extremely motivating to be part of a company that is changing how companies innovate and how software is created.
And I get to work with advanced technologies every day including Rails, Reactive UI, coffeescript, and D3.
I really like that Aha! is committed to a distributed organization and gives me the opportunity to work remotely from where I currently live in Mexico City. Living in Mexico City gives me access to everything a major metropolitan area has to offer. I love living with everything so close by that I can just walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. But, at the end of the day, I still miss being able to see the ocean every day like I did growing up in New Zealand.
I’m proud to be working at a market-leading company with a great, proven team on an amazing product. And it’s amazing how quickly this team delivers great new functionality.
That is why I joined Aha! — and why you should too.
