Highlight key milestone dates on your custom roadmap

by Claire George

Are your product launches date-driven? Do you work toward key events? Many dates (such as roadmap approvals or releases) naturally appear on a roadmap. But there are often other events (trade shows or compliance deadlines, for example) that are just as essential to keep track of. You need to bring all these driving forces together into a single view to ensure launch success.

Add milestones to your custom roadmap in Aha! Roadmaps to highlight key dates.

Custom roadmaps are great for crafting the perfect view of your plans. They give you complete control over what you want to display along the timeline — including initiatives, releases, features, ideas, and more. You can even customize colors and layouts to create your desired look. With the ability to add milestones, you can now further personalize your roadmap to highlight important dates the team needs to be aware of.

Find the new milestone option in your custom roadmap's configuration sidebar. Create milestones for important events, such as conferences, trade shows, regulatory deadlines, and the like. Add a name, date, and color for each milestone. Then, decide how you want them to appear at the top of your roadmap.

By default, you will see each milestone's name and date below the roadmap's timeline. You can also turn on a vertical dateline to make it easier to see which activities come before, during, and after each milestone. Check or uncheck any of these details to arrive at your desired view. Milestones are unique to each roadmap, giving you the flexibility to choose which dates to highlight for your audience.

In the example below, we added upcoming events as milestones on the roadmap. This means the product team and stakeholders can see these dates alongside product plans. In turn, they can ensure the features we will unveil at these events are prioritized and on track.

Anyone with View and edit permissions for your roadmap can add, edit, or delete milestones.

Create the roadmap view you need so the team maintains close coordination.

This enhancement came highly requested by customers — so we are thrilled to deliver it to you. And we would love to know what you need next. Submit an idea to our ideas portal.
