Create a custom homepage for your product knowledge base

by Claire George

Every product knowledge base deserves an attractive homepage. Why? When customers or internal teams come looking for information, you want to provide a great experience. The best homepages are both beautiful and functional — capturing your users' attention while also making it breezy to find key information. Today's update lets you quickly create that perfect entry point.

Give your product knowledge base a beautiful homepage and empower users to find the information they need, fast.

When you go into your product knowledge base's settings, you will now see a Homepage tab. Here, you will find everything you need to build an engaging page in minutes. Customize the homepage's title and headline. Then, select whether you want to show your logo, knowledge base title, and search bar. (You can use a different logo from the one in your Branding settings if you prefer.) Upload a banner image to give your homepage visual appeal, choosing between two styles to create the perfect look.

Next, add as many sections as you need to help users browse categories and highlight popular articles. Give each section a title and then add links. These can be folders, documents, or external links. Adjust the order of the sections — and the items within them — to create the perfect layout. You can also specify the number of links per row in each section, set the card size, and add icons for visual appeal.

When your homepage is set up the way you want, simply enable it to make it available in your product knowledge base. Note that you need to be on the Aha! Knowledge Advanced plan to take advantage of this and other product knowledge base functionality. Let us know if you want to see a demo or upgrade your account.

Let's quickly build a homepage for our fictitious Fredwin Cycling product knowledge base:

Create a custom homepage, fast

Start with the essentials. Below, we added a headline to welcome our users. We then customized the header details to streamline what we wanted to show and added our product logo. (The company logo is already included in the top navigation bar in the knowledge base.) We also uploaded a vibrant banner image and selected the Covered style to tailor the look.

The Overlaid banner style works best with a dark image, as it contrasts the knowledge base's name and headline more clearly.

Add featured sections to help users quickly find what they need. Below, we created a section with links to key categories in our knowledge base. We chose the large card style and included colorful icons to make each item stand out. From there, we added other sections to highlight the most popular articles and recent product announcements.

Share your product knowledge base

Now let's enable our new homepage and see what it looks like from the users' perspective. Ta-da! The beautiful look creates a positive first impression and makes our knowledge base a natural extension of the company brand. It provides the perfect entry point to explore all the valuable resources explaining how to set up and use our product.

The custom URL path for your product knowledge base will now navigate directly to the homepage.

Give your customers the easiest path to success with your product — including a seamless knowledge base experience.

Once your homepage is built, explore other ways to enhance your product knowledge base. For example, you can customize your top navigation and add a footer to provide a consistent experience. Or use pre-built templates to craft support articles quickly. If you have questions at any point, reach out to our product success team. It is made up of product experts who are always available (and happy!) to help.
